It doesn't seem to work in 2.09, either. At least not for me. I'd tried in 7x, and couldn't get it to work. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong but I downloaded 2.09 from sourceforge, imported your flame file, and it just looks...flat. Actually most of it doesn't even show up, there are a few speckles on my screen but nothing more. Variation 3 shows up nicely, but it's a flat julia-type thing.
This is pretty frustrating, I'm new to apophysis and fractals, and was really looking forward to being able to learn this technique.
